Adults-only or the whole family, done properly
I'm a Sandals and Beaches specialist, and these are among the most-booked trips I do. The two brands are built for different people, which is the first thing worth getting right. Sandals is adults only, aimed squarely at couples. Beaches is the family side, with the water parks and the kids' programming. Both are genuinely all-inclusive, which is rarer than the phrase suggests. Where the planning actually earns its keep is in choosing the island, then choosing the room category, because on these properties the room is the single biggest lever on what the week feels like.
What I Plan Here
Adults only, and built around the idea that you shouldn't be reaching for a wallet once you land. Restaurants, drinks, watersports and tips are in. The resorts span Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Antigua, Barbados, the Bahamas, Grenada, Curacao and Saint Vincent, and they are not interchangeable. Some are quiet and low-rise, some are big and busy. Honeymoons, anniversaries and just-the-two-of-us weeks are what I book here most.
The same all-inclusive idea with the whole family in mind. Water parks, kids' and teens' programming, character breakfasts, and rooms actually built for four or five people rather than squeezed. Turks and Caicos is the flagship and it earns the reputation. If you have travelled with small children and come home needing a holiday from the holiday, this is the format that fixes it.
This is the question people skip and then regret. Flight time and connections, whether the beach is calm or has surf, how far the resort sits from the airport, and what there is to do if you want a day off the property. Saint Lucia is dramatic and further. The Bahamas is the short hop. Jamaica has the widest spread of properties and prices. Turks and Caicos has the beach everyone pictures. I match the island to the trip you actually want, not to whichever one is running a promotion.
On these resorts the room tier changes the holiday more than the resort choice does. Butler service, swim-up rooms, over-water suites and club level are all real differences rather than marketing, and some of them are worth every penny while others are not, depending on how you travel. This is the part I'll be most direct with you about, because it's where I can save you money on one thing and tell you to spend it on another.

Sandals is adults only. No children anywhere on the property. That is the whole point, and it is why it works for honeymoons, anniversaries and a week where nobody needs anything from you.
Beaches is the family side. Water parks, supervised kids’ programming, and rooms that fit a family without anyone sleeping on a rollaway.
Same all-inclusive model underneath, two completely different weeks.
More than most. Meals across the restaurants, drinks including the good stuff, tips, watersports, and at Sandals the scuba for certified divers. That genuinely does mean you can land and stop thinking about money.
What sits outside it: spa treatments, some premium excursions, and certain speciality dining experiences. I’ll tell you which of those are worth booking ahead and which you can decide once you’re there.
Winter is peak and priced like it, roughly mid-December into April. That is also when the weather is most reliable, so you are paying for a real thing.
Late spring and early summer are the value window without much compromise on weather.
Hurricane season runs June to November, with the genuine risk concentrated in August and September. The rates reflect it. I book that window for people who understand the trade and carry the right insurance, and I say so plainly rather than selling around it.
The price is the same. What changes is that somebody has been to these islands, knows which room categories are worth the jump, watches for the promotions that come and go, and picks up the phone when a flight falls apart at six in the morning. Booking direct gets you the identical rate with none of that.
